About Silly Yak Treats

Hi! I’m Amy, owner of Silly Yak Treats. I was diagnosed with Celiac in January 2024. Like so many others, I quickly realized how overwhelming it can feel to rebuild your relationship with food. My husband, Joe, and our son, Oskar, have been amazing through this journey. As a family, we committed to creating a completely gluten‑free kitchen, replacing almost everything to keep our home and food safe.

Over time, we’ve built a library of recipes that our friends and family rave about. Many are surprised to learn they’re even gluten‑free! I was determined that being gluten-free shouldn’t mean giving up delicious food. It just means learning new ingredients, methods, and discovering flavors that can be as good or better than the originals.

Our Mission

Silly Yak Treats was born from a simple belief: people with celiac disease and gluten sensitivity deserve safe and delicious baked goods. We're not just another bakery offering a few gluten-free options, but with worry of gluten in the air ruining your day. We're a 100% dedicated gluten-free kitchen so there is no worry of cross contamination.

Why "Silly Yak"?

The name is a playful pun on "celiac," bringing a bit of fun and personality to what can be a serious dietary restriction. Our friendly yak mascot embodies the humor we lean on as a family. Living with celiac doesn't have to be all about restrictions and worry. It can also be about discovery, creativity, and joy.

Indiana Cottage Food Operation

Silly Yak Treats LLC operates as a cottage food business under Indiana law, allowing us to produce delicious baked goods from our home kitchen. This model means we can maintain our commitment to a 100% gluten-free environment while keeping our overhead low and our quality high. We have all received required food handling certifications (Serv Safe) and our young son also learned along with us.

Looking Forward

We will operate with a weekly bake offering different products and see what works for our customers. We hope to also get a delivery subscription service to allow standard orders plus adding some of the weekly specials if desired.
